Collegiate sported a revised line-up for the Christchurch Invitational, with some of the
lower weights dropping down a class or two. Despite only having 11 participants, this
new line-up helped Collegiate earn a strong 2nd place, behind last year's runner-up
Mathews. Every wrestler for Collegiate placed.

Joe Lawson wrestled 103, down from his normal
112. He pinned his way through the tournament
encountering very little opposition. John Clore dropped
two weight classes to 112 pounds, and clearly gained
from this move. He lost his first match on points to a
Mathews opponents, but then marched through his next
5 matches to take 3rd place. He pinned the wrestler
from Mathews on the way and then majored Norfolk
Academy's Ryan Amorosso in the consolation finals.
Reed Blair wrestled 130 pounds for this tournament,

and took 2nd. He pinned through to the finals, for a rematch of last year's finals
match with James Canning of Bruton. Canning was too quick on his feet for Reed, and
he lost by a major.
Rust Bartholomew did well in taking 5th at 135. His two losses on the day were
only by a point or two. Mac Fridell captured 1st place at 140. He pinned through to
the finals, where he faced Vernon Kerns of Mathews. Mac scored the first takedown,
but was taken to his back in a cradle towards the end of the first period. Surviving
this scare, Mac dominated the rest of the match outscoring his opponent 11-1. At 152
and 160 Zach Jesse and Joe Wolfe both took 4th, respectively. They both lost in the
first round to the eventual champion, but then wrestled back to the consolation
finals to place. Alan Miller took 5th at 171, going 2-2 with 2 pins. At 189 Marshall
Waller surprised a lot of people by taking 2nd. Down 9-1 in the semi-finals, Marshall
came back and decisively pinned his Hargrave Military opponent. In the finals he was
overwhelmed in the first period,and lost by pin. Harry Ludeman went 3-2 to take
4th place. Seth Lotts won the tournament, and spent about 3 minutes on the mat total.
