On December 8th, Collegiate traveled down to the Southside for the 17th Clover
Hill Invitational. Placing 7 out of 12 wrestlers, Collegiate took a solid 3rd place.
The highlight of the day was Mac Fridell and Seth Lotts' performance. The seniors
encountered little opposition as they both pinned through to first place.

The younger guys did well also. Joe Lawson took 4th
place at 112, losing to Mark Flora of Blue Ridge twice
Joe will see Flora, a Turner Ashby transfer, again at
Preps. Jamie Robertson took 3rd at 119. He dropped a
close match in the semi-finals, but then majored and
pinned for third place. Reed Blair took 3rd in a similar
manner, losing to a tough wrestler from Matoaca in the
semi-finals on points and then dominating his final 2
matches.

Newcomer Zach Jesse was impressive at 160. He went 3-1 on the day with three pins
to take third. He shows natural movement on the mat, and knows how to look for
the pin. Harry Ludeman took 4th at 215, going 2-2 on the day.

John Clore and Allan Miller both went 1-2 on the day. Newcomers Taylor Emerson,
Rust Bartholomew, Marshall Waller did well in their first varsity tournament,
and will continue to improve with time. Overall, the whole team looked solid for
their second tournament, and look forward to see how they match up with the Tigers
and Saints.
