The Cougars traveled down to Clover Hill and picked up 4th out of 11 teams
with only 9 wrestlers competing. In the lower weights, Ed Trope and Stuart
Crosby wrestled well, both going 2-2 on the day. Jamie Robertson placed 2nd
at 130 pounds. In his finals match he clashed with the #5 ranked wrestler in
AAA, T.J.Baker of North Stafford. Baker scored a takedown on Jamie in the

first period, and then rode him out. Jamie chose bottom
in the second, but couldn't escape. In the third, Jamie
took top and nearly tilted Baker, but Baker escaped
and scored another takedown. Jamie reversed Baker,
but was unable to turn Baker in the closing seconds.
Reed Blair marked his return to the mat with a fourth
place finish at 145. Rust Bartholomew went 4-1 on the
day to take 3rd at 152 with some very solid wrestling.
Tom Price was a match from placing at 160, and he
wrestled a tight semifinal match with a tough Matthews

opponent. Alan Miller picked up 2nd at 171. He lost by a point in his finals match,
but there was a questionable call of Alan not being awarded near fall points at the
end of the match when he rolled his opponent to the mat. Marshall Waller wrestled
a solid tournament to take 3rd, his only loss to the #3 wrestler at 171 in AA. Harry
Ludeman wrestled well and took 2nd, losing to a tough Matthews opponent in the
finals.
