About the Coaches
Head Coach Andy Stone: Coach Andy Stone joined Collegiate in 2001, bringing
a wealth of experience in the Granby system to complement Coach Kiefer. Prior to
Collegiate, he was head coach at Brookwood High School in Alabama. Brookwood
won the state title in 2000, along with Coach Stone winning the Coach of the Year
Award Additionally, Coach Stone was the Head coach at Poquoson High School,
and led the Islanders to a 2nd place finish.
Coach Stone also holds collegiate coaching and wrestling experience as well.
From 1985-1990 he held Assistant Coaching positions at Lock Haven, Syracuse,
the University of Tennessee, and Old Dominion. He wrestled for the University of
Tennessee from 1981 - 1985, and Old Dominion from 1979-1981. After college,
Coach Stone wrestled for the Sunkist Wrestling Club in 1986, and for the New
York Athletic Club from 1987-1990.
In addition to all the above, he was a Maryland State Champion for Bowie
High School, and has coached at the Granby School of Wrestling (1978-1992),
and the Granby System Wrestling Camp (1994-Present).
Assistant Head Coach Steve Sica: Steve Sica joins the Collegiate coaching
staff in 2003. An alumni of Collegiate, Steve racked up an impressive record while
at Collegiate. 3 VISWA titles, 3 Prep League Titles, and 2 placings (5th/8th) at
Prep Nationals. Additionally, for three years he made either Mat Talk-Online's or
Virginiawrestling.com's All State Team. Steve also wrestled a year and a half at
Wesleyan University in New England.
Dave Parker: Dave is an alumni of Collegiate, having graduated in 1997. He
wrestled two years under Wortie Ferrell, and has returned to help coach the
varsity program.
